Converting Temporary to Permanent Life Insurance
Converting Temporary to Permanent Life Insurance What's life insurance conversion? It lets you get a permanent life insurance policy using your term policy's rate class. Forbidden to Work — CA Labor Code § 512
CA Labor Laws & My Lunch So I'm required by CA law to clock out every 5 hours. Do we really need a law like this? Then I can't clock back in for at least 30 minutes. There are some employers out there who would willingly be total jerks to their employees, but in a free market, total jerks tend to have trouble finding employees to abuse.

State Law Stands up to Federal Law (Revisited)
State Law Stands up to Federal Law (Revisited) In previous weeks, we presented legal evidence for the unconstitutionality of Obamacare. But today, we're looking at grounds which suggest that the federal government may be able to pull it off (as far as the government and governed are concerned—not as far as the economy is concerned).
“Life” Insurance Regulation in Florida Against Obamacare?
“Life” Insurance Regulation in Florida Against Obamacare? Florida passed a law enabling private citizens to participate in the state attorney general's suit against Congress for the unconstitutionality of Obamacare. Sounds like a good job on Florida's part, but they passed the legislation rather underhandedly...

April 15, 2010—Part 2: Philanthropy & Robbery
April 15, 2010-Part 2: Philanthropy & Robbery If Robin Hood were alive today, who would he be robbing? The true motive behind our "social welfare" approach to income tax, it turns out is to require others to donate, without donating any of our own substance.

April 15, 2010—Part 1: Cataclysm
On income taxes... Who's not obliged to pay? About half the country. So of course they're voting in favour of higher taxes and increased government spending. Then there's a chunk of people on the government payroll who do pay taxes, but they'll also vote for higher taxes and increased spending because they stand to net more money. We're pointed in a bad direction.

“Laddering” Life Insurance
“Laddering” Life Insurance Here's a fine strategy for purchasing life insurance:Hold a small portfolio of policies of different terms. Your total cost of coverage should be lower, and your coverage should decrease in time with the decrease of your life insurance needs.
That wasn't a very good explanation, I know. Just click the link and read the article.

States Sue for Freedom. Part 2: Precedent for Unconstitutional Rule
There is much doubt cast over whether people actually read the Obamacare bill before they passed health care reform. (Pelosi herself said we need to get the bill passed so that people can see what's in it.) The conduct of the federal government suggests to me that it pays no more interest in the Constitution than in any other piece of legislation. A right shame it is.

States Sue for Freedom. Part 1: An Incomplete Scope
States Sue for Freedom. Part 1: An Incomplete Scope The first part of an exposition on the states' actions against the federal government's health care reform (Obamacare). Without a doubt, the health insurance reform is unconstitutional, but it's hard to remember that since the states have been regulating health care (constitutionally) for as long as any of us remembers.
