Forbidden to Work — CA Labor Code § 512

CA Labor Laws & My Lunch So I'm required by CA law to clock out every 5 hours. Do we really need a law like this? Then I can't clock back in for at least 30 minutes. There are some employers out there who would willingly be total jerks to their employees, but in a free market, total jerks tend to have trouble finding employees to abuse.
